Watch: Karnataka CM caught on camera handing out money to supporters

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has landed himself in big trouble after he was seen on video handing out money to the people during a visit to Mysuru. A video of the incident available with Times Now shows the Congress leader taking out his wallet twice before giving money to supporters. The incident happened when the chief minister was travelling in an SUV and was surrounded by supporters during a visit to Ramanahalli in Mysuru.

While no official complaint has been registered so far, the Election Commission is believed to have taken note of the incident that happened in poll-bound Karnataka. The poll panel is looking at the probable violation of model code of conduct.

The model code of conduct is already in force in Karnataka as the Election Commission has announced the dates for the Legislative Assembly Elections 2018. As per the poll panel, voting will take place in the southern state in a single phase on May 12 while the counting will take place three days later on May 15.

The term of the current Karnataka Assembly, which has 224 seats, ends on May 28.
