Latest move by Congress reveals Sweet connection with Nirav Modi

A big controversy has erupted after Karnataka Congress gave ticket to HS Chandramouli, lawyer of Nirav Modi’s uncle Mehul Choksi. The Congress party has given him ticket while allegedly denying the same to Brijesh Kalappa, who is Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s legal advisor and party spokesperson. Speaking over the issue, BJP leader GVL Narsimha Rao said that with this, yet another link of Rahul Gandhi with Mehul Choksi has come to the forefront.

“Congress has several connections with Mehul Choksi, yet another link came to the forefront with their Candidate list,” said GVL.

Addressing a press briefing, GVL said that Chandramouli has links with the Congress, which is why he has been rewarded with an MLA nomination.

“Chandramouli has strong Congress links, which is why he has been rewarded with an MLA nomination. In the list of candidates, HS Chandramouli has been given ticket from Madikeri,” he said.

In the press briefing, he said that Chandramouli appeared for Mehul Choksi against a legal complaint filed by whistleblower Hariprasad, and also quipped, “Congress ka haath Choksi ke saath.”

“HS Chandramouli was the lawyer for Mehul Choksi against a legal complaint filed by Mr Hariprasad in Bengaluru. In that case, Bengaluru police filed a criminal complaint, which was subsequently converted into a civil suit. Chandramouli had also appeared for KJ George.

“There is one real son-in-law, there was another son-in-law by the name of Mallya and today there is a third in the name of Choksi who enjoyed the full patronage of Rahul Gandhi,” he added.

GVL also alleged that Congress President Rahul Gandhi was directly promoting Choksi’s business.

“In September 2013, Rahul Gandhi was involved in the promotion of Gitanjali jewels. In the same month, the UPA government sacked a director of Allahabad bank, Mr Dubey because he had highlighted certain lacunae in Rs 1500 crore loan being offered to Gitanjali jewels. He had stood his ground on the proposal, which is why he was summarily called and sacked. Rahul was directly promoting Choksi’s business, “ said GVL Narsimha Rao.

Meanwhile, mutiny in Congress still continues as over 44 office bearers of youth congress in Dakshina Kannada district have resigned over party’s ticket row.

A massive infighting broke out within the Karnataka Congress over ticket distribution for the critical upcoming elections in the state.  Following the Congress’ list of candidates being released, a number of disgruntled leaders threatened to resign from the party and lashed out at the leadership including current chief minister Siddaramaiah and Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

The protesting Congress members have hit out over the strong involvement of ‘dynasty’ in the poll list.
